Shortage of AL7005 for Bike Frame Production

Over the course of several months now, we have steadily seen the availability of AL7005 series aluminum alloy used commonly for bicycle frame production become constrained. Vendors in China, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, and Taiwan have noted the decrease in demand for AL7005 materials and the subsequent reduction of availability in tube sets from major suppliers such as Giant Light Metal Technology based in Kunshan, China. Due to the reduction of availability for this particular type of aluminum alloy tubes, brands have increasingly switched their original design to use AL6061 and AL6069.
